Senator Alvarado-Gil fights to make gas cheaper in CA with the passage of AB 30

Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil (R-Jackson) celebrated today the signing of AB 30 into law by the Governor. The bipartisan legislation, co-authored by Alvarado-Gil authorizes the sale of E15, a cleaner and more cost-effective fuel blend, across California.

"California is committed to bold environmental goals, but we can’t ignore the financial strain that families face. The legislation offers much needed relief for the hard-working families of my district, most residing and working in rural communities with difficult commutes," said Senator Alvarado-Gil. "Our state’s high taxes and regulatory burden have made everyday costs unsustainable for many. AB 30 offers a balanced, bipartisan approach by cutting fuel expenses while supporting cleaner energy."

E15, composed of 15% ethanol and 85% gasoline, is a proven fuel used nationwide for over a decade, offering lower emissions and savings at the pump. Until this law, California stood alone in blocking the sale of E15.

"Californians regularly endure the highest gas prices in the country. While this legislation eases the burden, there is much more we must do," Senator Alvarado-Gil concluded.
