Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil (R-Jackson) honored the El Dorado Rose Corporation on the Senate floor today with a Member Resolution and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the El Dorado Rose Program, a beloved tradition recognizing the extraordinary women of El Dorado County.
Established in 1976, the El Dorado Rose Program celebrated women aged 60 and older who demonstrated outstanding volunteerism, leadership, and commitment to their communities. For five decades, the program embodied the values of service, civic engagement, and pride in local Gold Rush history through signature events including the El Dorado Rose Ball and Pageant. These efforts honored remarkable women while preserving the region’s rich heritage and strengthening community bonds.
“I was honored to recognize the El Dorado Rose Corporation on this milestone 50th anniversary,” said Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil. “These women devoted countless hours to improving the lives of others, and their selfless service has made El Dorado County a better place to live, work, and raise a family. The El Dorado Roses reminded us all of the power of community spirit and civic pride.”
Senator Alvarado-Gil recognized the following outstanding volunteers for their dedication and service: Claudia Bethke, Gail Butler, Coco DeCarlo, Jane Fergason, Ellen Fisher, Sandra Hand, Diane Lehr, Mary Meader, Sherry Phillipsen, Kimm Richwine, Pan Henderson, and Nancy Ehrlich.
As the El Dorado Rose Corporation marked 50 years, it continued its vital role as historical ambassadors, fostering community connection and honoring the contributions that define El Dorado County.
Senator Alvarado-Gil invited her colleagues to join her in congratulating the El Dorado Roses on this important milestone and in celebrating their enduring impact on the people and communities of El Dorado County.
